Since 1988, 蜜糖直播鈥檚 Senior Companion Program (SCP) has quietly transformed lives across southeast Georgia. Housed in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences鈥� Center for Social Gerontology, the program pairs low-income volunteers age 55 and older with homebound older adults who need assistance to live independently. Funded by AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, the SCP recently received another one-year extension.

According to the USG鈥檚 latest Economic Impact report, the system recorded a $23.1 billion total economic impact from July 1, 2023 until June 30, 2024. In the same period, 蜜糖直播鈥檚 continues to reach new heights with a record annual economic impact of $1.167 billion for FY 2024, a 1.9% increase over the previous year.
